Composite Veneers
Scoresby Same Day Dental Veneers
When it comes to dental veneers, traditional porcelain designs can take 2-3 visits to complete from start to finish. Composite designs on the other hand, can be shaped and applied in just one appointment.
Are Composite Veneers Right for Me?
Using composite materials has some advantages and disadvantages compared to classic porcelain. Due to the opaque materials used, it’s more noticeable if used on multiple teeth. As such, we tend to prefer a composite veneer in instances involving specific teeth or as provisional restorations during your smile makeover.
Because composite is shaped directly onto your tooth by hand, it is made and finalised in one sitting. Our dentists craft the tooth-coloured putty into the desired form (and from the pre-selected shade) and cure it with a bright light to harden it into place. No further appointments are needed.
Since composite is less durable than porcelain, same day veneers may need to be adjusted or replaced more frequently. Wearing a protective night guard can help you avoid any unwanted wear or chipping from grinding your teeth when you sleep.
When to Consider Single Visit Veneers
Composite (same day) veneers are ideal for situations involving:
- One or two chipped front teeth
- A fast smile makeover
- Longer-scale cosmetic cases, where interim therapies are necessary
- Younger patients who do not qualify for porcelain veneers
- Closing in a gap between two teeth
- Covering significant, localised staining
- A way to explore different options before choosing a more permanent solution
What to Expect During Treatment
When you have a same day veneer placed, the appointment is quite similar to what you would experience if you were getting a filling. First, we’ll make you comfortable and numb the tooth before gently reshaping the outer layer of enamel. Next, we’ll shape the material and cure it into place. The entire procedure takes no more than one sitting.
